The Chair commenced the meeting at 8.32 am. 

 
1. Confirmation of minutes 


Resolved, on the motion of Mr BLAIR, seconded by Ms GIBBONS: 

That draft minutes No. 16 be confirmed. 

 
2. Proposed new inquiry 

The Chair circulated draft terms of reference for a proposed inquiry into volunteering 
among children and young people in NSW. 


The Committee deliberated on the draft terms of reference. 


Resolved, on the motion of Mr BLAIR, seconded by Ms GIBBONS: 

That the Committee conduct an inquiry into volunteering among children and young 
people in NSW, subject to the Committee’s agreeing to draft terms of reference 
being circulated to members following the deliberative meeting. 


Resolved, on the motion of Mr BLAIR, seconded by Ms GIBBONS: 

That the Committee issue a call for submissions, including advertising the inquiry 
in the Sydney Morning Herald and writing to stakeholders, and that the closing 
date for submissions be 31 January 2014. 


Resolved, on the motion of Ms BARHAM, seconded by Mr GEE:

That the Committee seek the Speaker’s approval to advertise the inquiry in NSW 
regional newspapers, and that the Committee investigate the use of social media 
to promote the inquiry. 
 

Ms BARHAM requested that Committee staff prepare a short discussion paper on 
volunteering among children and young people in NSW, including discussion of 
the NSW Government’s "Statement of Principles for the Recognition of Volunteers". 


3. Adjournment 


The Committee adjourned at 8.49 am sine die.
